Federal Defendants' Notice to the Court Regarding Missing Femur Bones

On or about Friday, June 22, the Benton County Coroner advised the FBI that they had discovered some bones which they believed may be related to the Kennewick remains which had been in their custody in 1996. On Saturday, June 23 the FBI took custody of the remains and is continuing their investigation into the bones disappearance. Dr. Trimble, who was in Portland at the time having attended the hearing on Tuesday and Wednesday June 19 and 20, accompanied the FBI agent duirng the transfer and provided curatorial packaging for the remains. The remains are presently in the custody of the FBI. Defendants will advise the court when further arrangements for the remains are determined.

Respectfully submitted this 25th day of June, 2001.
